La Canica was founded in 2005 by Eva Soriano (actress, visual artist and art director) with the aim of creating multidisciplinary performances using puppets and objects as their foundation. Placing a strong emphasis on performance and the exploration of materials and other stagecraft elements, the company seeks to build characters and stories that resonate with children’s worlds. La Canica brings together professionals from diverse artistic backgrounds (theatre, dance, visual arts, music, etc.) in pursuit of a distinctive stage language, one that creates a meeting point between puppetry and theatre, between the body and objects. Their shows have been warmly received by audiences and cultural programmers alike, earning numerous awards and accolades.
