This production explores the evolving relationship between people and the Earth. Connections that shaped the way we worked, celebrated and experienced everyday life, and how we interacted with a specific place and time. Much of this has changed, yet some still seek to recover those ties, viewing them through the lens of the present. It also speaks to our ability to adapt in the face of adversity, out of sheer necessity, especially through the eyes of children. El hombre que quemaba piedras (The Man Who Burned Stones) tells the story of Zagal, the son of a ‘calçiner’ — a traditional limeburner. Lime was once an essential material for building homes, but a time came when construction methods changed… and the trade of the limeburner vanished. The man who burned stones had to rebuild himself, and Zagal was there to help him.
